Brief explanation
At present, most of the ocean is polluted by garbage, and many Marine creatures are losing their lives because of the pollution. As can be seen from the illustration, we human beings should pay close attention to this problem and advocate everyone to protect the natural environment and protect Marine creatures to reduce the harm.
Three parts of visual analysis
• Phase 1: Observation
This design work is expressed in the form of illustration. In the first visual ways, the work is very prominent theme, middle part as the main part, is characteristic of the picture, the overall color is more rich and varied, the main color is blue, black, yellow, and a small amount of red, not very bright color, soft color deviation. In this illustration，can directly see that a human hand lifts the garbage in the ocean from the sea. Garbage produced from various places is wrapped by the sea, and the cumbersome lines can better reflect the appearance of the waves. Middle part of the line feeling is very strong, but both sides is relatively simple.The overall feeling is converging towards the center, and the theme ideas are clearly distributed.
• Phase 2: Analysis
This illustration is clearly divided into upper and lower parts, with balanced distribution, complete composition, and no white space or inclination to one side. The theme is directly highlighted in the middle of the illustration，and the cumbersome lines can better reflect the appearance of the waves. Above, the sky is golden in contrast to the rest of the world, and down below are Marine animals, with a few different kinds of fish, all evenly distributed toward the human hand. In the sphere in the middle of the picture, it is formed by sea waves. Inside the sphere are all kinds of garbage in the ocean, There were faint images of boxes and dark bags，which are all from People's Daily life, which is also the theme center. They form the same color match with the whales below and are related to the theme. The principles of movement and repetition are applied, and the repeated fish and the ocean and the waves caused by the hand holding the garbage, all the elements in the picture are interrelated. When the audience sees the painting, they can intuitively see that garbage has serious harm to the sea, and polluters the sea, and reminds people to pay attention to the protection of the environment.
• Phase 3: Interpretation
This painting is created by a freelance Internet illustrator who advocates environmental protection in view of the current natural Marine environment being polluted. When the audience sees the painting, they can intuitively see that garbage has serious harm to the sea, and polluters the sea, and reminds people to pay attention to the protection of the environment .From the work, we can see the current situation and how we should reduce the harm in the future. In the form of poster design, it is easier for people to understand the truth in the work. It also includes a lot of artistic features, strong and weak color matching and reasonable composition ratio, as well as the use of works to express some theme text. The main purpose of this work is to express that people should pay more attention to this aspect of environmental protection. In the face of protecting the environment and nature, people have not made more changes, so the meaning of creating this work is to make more people pay attention to this matter.

In the first sketch, the whale is composed of a lot of garbage, and the water spewed out is also the gray sea water under the pollution. The whale is mainly used to express the pollution to the sea.

In the second sketch, the element above is the earth. The earth is cracked due to industrial pollution, which creates a lot of garbage and flows into the ocean, just like a funnel.

After the addition of colors, the features and the content to be expressed are more obvious. The sea water spout by the whale is represented by gray and black, because it is the color of the polluted sea water. The lower part of the whale is composed of all kinds of discarded garbage, and there are some underwater fish, and the tire of the car is used as their home.

Rationale explaining and defending
In the final personal design work, I made use of the contrast of colors, with yellow in the middle as the emphasis and darker colors on both sides as the highlight. As a result of a lot of industry and waste production, the earth is polluted. The sea has also been seriously polluted, which causes the death of many Marine organisms. A large amount of garbage falls in the sea and accumulates in it. This phenomenon makes the activity range of more Marine organisms smaller, and uses more obvious colors to highlight the key points to express, so that the viewer can easily find the expression center. The causes and effects are clear, from top to bottom, and in the middle is a sort of funnel shape. The resulting garbage will flow into the ocean from the middle inlet. Some skeletons of fish in the sand on both sides can be seen clearly that they have been stored for a long time, which can represent the severity of pollution.
Finall Reflection：
In this course module, for this semester, I learned how to develop a thinking before designing works, and minimize the mistakes in design works, as well as using a variety of principles to express in the works. In the whole module, I think the most interesting thing was discussing the progress of the works with the lecturer. Sometimes, I felt so upset when thinking about how to design the works, because the topics required so much from the lecturer, but after the discussion with the lecturer, my ideas would become clearer. Through this module, I have a certain understanding of my own design style and concept, and I will continue to improve and explore myself. During the learning process, my previous thoughts and feelings of design seem to have changed. For example, at the beginning of the design, I would draw some sketches in advance and simply use colors as visual effects, which would reduce errors in the design work. Although I always use gouache pigment for the design, I think it can better express the desired effect.
