LECTURE

Week 1

In Week 1, Mr. Vinod provided an overview of the module, including an explanation of the module structure and the allocation of supervisors. He also outlined the requirements for Task 1, which involves the preparation of a research proposal. The proposal is required to be submitted by 6 October. During this week, students are expected to meet with their assigned supervisors with a well-developed research plan, preferably presenting multiple possible approaches, in order to obtain approval. If the proposed plan is not approved, students should revise it based on the supervisor’s feedback and arrange a follow-up meeting to ensure that the research direction aligns with the project requirements.

In addition, students are required to prepare a skeletal proposal that addresses all components outlined in the Proposal Brief. As all deliverables for the Major Project must be completed by Week 12, students are advised to work backwards from the final deadline to establish realistic timelines for each deliverable, thereby improving overall project planning and execution efficiency.

Week 2

Regarding the suggestions provided by Mr. Kamal in the second week, it was recommended that the content format be adjusted to better align with the specified project requirements and guidelines. The feedback emphasized the need for greater consistency in the overall structure, including clear organisation of each section and adherence to the designated presentation standards. These adjustments aim to enhance clarity and coherence, while ensuring that the project meets the overall expectations and assessment criteria.

Week 3

It is recommended to create a detailed storyboard and discuss the story with Mr. Kamal to ensure clarity and coherence. The storyboard should clearly define the visual elements, character actions, camera angles, and scene transitions for each segment, helping to plan the overall narrative flow and visual rhythm of the project. Through discussions with the supervisor, professional feedback can be obtained to identify any potential logical gaps or inconsistencies in the story and make timely revisions. Additionally, a well-developed storyboard provides a clear reference for subsequent visual design and animation production, ensuring that the final output effectively conveys the intended creative vision and information.

Week 4

The idea and concept have not yet been fully developed or visually presented in the current presentation. It was recommended to create a stylistic moodboard and provide a clear, polished visual representation to illustrate what the final outcome might look like. This would help in better communicating the creative direction and overall aesthetic of the project.
.

Week 7

The current storyboard is very minimal, making it difficult to determine the intended appearance of the final illustration or animation. A one-minute short animation is expected to be completed, and it is recommended to meet with the supervisor as soon as possible to discuss the project and begin the creation process. During production, each scene’s visual elements, camera design, and character actions should be carefully planned to ensure narrative coherence and effective communication of the intended message. Feedback should be recorded and incorporated in a timely manner to improve the quality of the work. Immediate action is necessary to ensure that the project progresses on schedule and effectively.

Week 8

Mr. Kamal provided feedback regarding the overall visual outcome, advising that additional detailed movements and a broader range of animation elements be incorporated to enhance the coherence and fluidity of the final animation. It was also recommended that production of the animation commence during this week to ensure timely progress and allow sufficient time for refinement.

Week 9

The work is still at an early stage, and the overall quality remains basic. An animatic had been presented prior to today’s animation. Progress is expected this week, and En. Kamal’s suggestions should be carefully applied. Attention should be given to animation details, including character movement, scene transitions, and visual elements, using the animatic as a reference. Timely revisions based on feedback will improve the professionalism and clarity of the final animation, ensuring the project progresses according to plan.

Week 11

It is recommended to change the second character’s movement from sliding to walking on two legs to make the motion more natural and engaging. This adjustment will enhance the overall expressiveness of the animation, ensure smoother transitions between scenes, and maintain consistency with the visual style and environment. The change will improve both the professionalism and overall quality of the project.

Week 12

The final version of the project incorporates the feedback and modifications implemented over the course of the semester.

Week 13

Complete the final task.

TASK 1

PROPOSAL

The main task in Week 1 was to understand and prepare Task 1 (the research proposal). The key steps included reviewing the Proposal Brief, selecting 2–3 research topics, discussing the plan with the supervisor to obtain approval, completing the proposal framework (including topic, problem statement, objectives, significance, and methodology overview), planning the timeline backward from the Week 12 deadline, and submitting the proposal by 6 October.

FEEDBACK

Week 1

Mr. Kamal suggested that the storyline could be made more detailed, as the current idea is still somewhat unclear and could be further refined in the next stage. He also pointed out that the research scope should focus on a specific target group, as different groups have varying sources of stress and coping methods, and that the problem statement needs to be more concise and precise.

Week 2

Regarding Mr. Kamal's second week's suggestions, the content format will be changed to be consistent with the format specified in the provided requirements.

Week 3

In the third week, Mr. Kamal conducted an online consultation on Saturday. Before that, I prepared a simple storyboard and plot. Through detailed communication, Mr. Kamal finally approved my storyboard and plot. In the following weeks, I can continue to create my work. Regarding the content part, I can write it in more detail to expand and extend the language.

REFLECTION

In Task 1, I focused on reviewing the Proposal Brief and selecting my research topic. This stage allowed me to understand the requirements of the research proposal and plan a clear structure for my work. I learned the importance of defining a clear research problem, setting achievable objectives, and outlining a suitable methodology. Feedback from my supervisor helped me recognize the need for a well-organized proposal and the value of aligning my ideas with the project’s goals, which provided a solid foundation for the subsequent stages of the Major Project.
