LECTURES
week1
In the first week, the instructor introduced us to the content of the
module, the tasks we needed and how to complete them. In the first week of
the course, we were divided into groups and used the group mode to prepare
the required documents.
In the group task, we need to prepare different types of
infographic materials, and study and discuss this task through the network
and practice. Each different type of infographic needs to provide
corresponding examples.
For individual tasks, what we need to do is redesign an infographic
in an online free infographic tool based on the examples of infographics
found.
week 2
In the second week's class, the instructor asked us to present our
thoughts on FLIP 1 as well as our group research. Additionally, we were
tasked with starting the next exercise, which focuses on the five aspects
of L.A.T.C.H. Similarly, FLIP 2 is to be completed using the same research
methods and process as FLIP 1.
INSTRUCTIONS
EXERCISES
TASK 1:
The first task is also a group task, the type of infographic
Exercise 1:
Quantifiable information
I decided to use colored paper to make the three-dimensional star
pattern and chose six different colors for better visual effect. I
will conduct detailed analysis to quantify and visualize the
data.
Before I started this task, I tried to make origami stars and design
their patterns.
And because of the different quantity, I need to allocate them
according to the quantity, how to place them and how to match the
colors.
Figure 1.2 Trial scheme 1
Figure 1.3 Trial scheme 2
I find that if different types of colors but the same pattern are
mixed together, it will not be able to clearly analyze the
infographic we want to study.
so I will make some design sense of the same colors together.
My inspiration comes from games, formed by some basic shapes.

Figure 1.5 Final assembly
Based on quantitative statistics, I put all the data in the
photo, study the infographics in more detailed analysis.
Exercise 2 : L.A.T.C.H
Create a visual poster incorporating the information, utilizing
the principles of LATCH, with a minimum of four aspects
represented.
Requirements:
Size resolution: 1240 × 1750 pixels or 2048 × 2048 pixels.
Use Photoshop or Illustrator to complete this project. You may
reuse some elements but ensure to create your own visual elements
to complete the poster.
Design Project Selection:
1.Pokedex
2.FFXIV Bestiary
3.Dinosaur
I've chosen the first type of Pokémon as the theme for this
project.
Discovery and Research
Regarding the theme of Pokémon, they are divided into different
performances and characteristics, as well as different evolutions
and abilities. I will classify and present representatives of
several different types.
Ula'ula Island
Figure 1.6 Electric type Pokémon
Melemele Island
Figure 1.7 Water type Pokémon
Alola dex
Figure 1.8 Grass type Pokémon
Akala Island
Figure 1.9 Fire type Pokémon
I will use the representatives of these selected types. First,
I'll sketch out the design, then proceed to use illustration to
complete the rest of my design.
L.A.T.C.H
Location - Different types of habitats for each type of Pokémon
Alphabet - Pokémon sorted alphabetically
Time - (no time)
Category - Different types of Pokémon
Hierarchy - Evolutionary stages of each Pokémon
I have designed two layouts for this and sketched them out. I
believe there is a significant difference in visual effect between
horizontal layout and vertical layout.
I have chosen the first sketch as the one I will further
develop and research in my design work.
- Illustration Design -
First, I will create a background and a title.
Figure 2.3
I will organize and arrange each of them from four types, I
will place the island in the middle and the Pokémon representing
the four types will be distributed around it.
Figure 2.4
I will organize and arrange each of them from four types, I will
place the island in the middle and the Pokémon representing the
four types will be distributed around it.
Figure 2.5
I've divided them into four parts, and what the arrows point to
is the function and the process after evolution.

Figure 2.7 Final Outcome in jpg
Based on the advice and guidance from Mr. Shamsul, I have made
adjustments to the composition and content. I have resized my
layout to a vertical layout of 1240 × 1750 pixels and have also
added more content to the design poster, such as HP values. This
allows for a larger utilization of space and provides a more
visually comfortable appearance.

2. FLIP 1 About Infographics
A multi-type infographic online tool
In terms of group work:
Everyone works in groups to complete the task. Use the web to look
for different
digitized infographics and find examples of each type. It is
important to note that different
types will suit different data.
Figure 2.1 The group's slides on types of infographics.
RE-DESIGNING AN INFOGRAPHIC
For individual personal projects:
find an example that is more close to your own idea, and redesign a
new
digitized infographic through the example.
For this personal task, my content of choice was to record the location of
the trip and
use a timeline infographic to express what I was going to
design.
Figure 2.2 Example timeline infographic (templates)
Regarding the issues raised:
1.Overall, the color scheme appears monotonous and lacks impact.
2.Within this infographic template, it's difficult to pinpoint the focal
point, leading to visual fatigue and a lack of engagement.
I made some layout adjustments to this design, placing the visuals in the
center to make it clearer and more prominent. Additionally, I incorporated
other decorative elements in the blank spaces to enhance visual
appeal.
Figure 2.5 Final Outcome in PDF
I chose to utilize Canva for redesigning the statistical infographic,
leveraging its range of templates to guide me in terms of color, typography,
and overall layout adjustments.

Reflection
Throughout these tasks, I have learned and understood the concepts of
data types, and I have applied this knowledge to create posters. It has been
an engaging exercise in quantifying data. With regards to learning about
L.A.T.C.H, I utilized it to craft visual posters about Pokémon and present
them. By applying this knowledge comprehensively, I gained insights into
Pokémon, a subject I had never delved deeply into before.
