PROJECT 2: THEME BASED SCENE MODELING

In Project 2, my task is to design and create a scene-based environment model based on a provided themed concept. To ensure the final outcome is both accurate and artistic, I will begin by collecting reference images or blueprints and studying the visual elements related to the theme to better understand the structure and details of the scene.

Next, I will use the polygon modeling tools and techniques learned in class to model the objects in the scene one by one. Once the modeling is complete, I will apply suitable materials and textures to each object to enhance the overall realism and visual appeal of the scene. Additionally, I will set up lighting based on the scene's atmosphere, adjusting the light and shadows to add depth and expressiveness to the final work.

Research

Before starting the modeling process, I dedicated time to extensively search for relevant references to ensure I could design a realistic and detailed scene. By studying these reference images, I gained a deeper understanding of the proportions, textures, and design styles needed for the scene, providing a solid foundation for the modeling process.

I chose a bedroom as the theme for Project 2, allowing me to focus on designing and modeling various objects such as a bed, wardrobe, nightstand, and decorative items. My goal is to capture a sense of realism and warmth by carefully detailing individual elements and balancing the overall atmosphere of the bedroom scene.

DIGITALIZATION

First, I started by creating the bed and the wardrobe. The process of making the bed was relatively straightforward. I began by creating the bed frame and used the extrude and scale tools to shape the headboard and footboard. To make the bed look more realistic, I added subtle curves to the top of the headboard, mimicking the design details of real furniture.

For the wardrobe modeling, I started with a rectangular frame and used the extrude function to gradually shape the structure of the wardrobe. I applied loop cuts to add more details to the doors and internal areas of the wardrobe, and added handles to the doors. To enhance the realism of the wardrobe, I also added a few shelves inside, and finally, I applied a material color to make it appear as though it was made from real wood.

After completing all the models for my classroom scene, I arranged them one by one within the space to check how they fit together and their proportions. This process allowed me to evaluate the overall layout and ensure that each object was positioned accurately, creating a balanced and natural scene.

It also gave me the opportunity to make adjustments to any elements that needed refinement before finalizing the project.

Next, I will render the models to make them look more complete. This process involves setting up the appropriate lighting, shadows, and materials to create a realistic appearance.

Reflection

In Project 2, I chose a bedroom scene as my creative theme. During the modeling process, I began by creating the furniture, starting with the bed and wardrobe. Using polygon modeling techniques, I ensured that the proportions and positioning of each element harmonized with the overall scene.

Next, I carefully arranged these objects within the scene. By adjusting their positions, I ensured that the spatial relationships between them appeared natural and balanced. This process made me realize how precisely placing each object within the space can significantly impact the overall composition of the scene. By setting up appropriate lighting and shadows, I was able to emphasize the details of each object.

This project enhanced my modeling and rendering skills, with the design and presentation of each object and detail contributing to the scene. Through this process, I gained a deeper appreciation for the complexity and creativity involved in environment design.
