INSTRUCTION
Final Project
For my final project, I will create an organic 3D character model based on a model sheet. First, I will choose a character and gather reference images from multiple angles to ensure the accuracy of the model. Then, I will use Blender’s organic modeling techniques to start with the character’s basic structure.
After completing the base model, I will refine the details such as facial features, limbs, and clothing. Next, I will apply appropriate materials and textures based on the character’s design. Finally, I will set up the scene’s lighting, render the final image, and complete the project.
Research
Before starting the modeling process, I carefully considered various character options and ultimately decided to create My Melody, one of Sanrio's beloved characters. Her warm and adorable appearance, combined with her iconic hood design, made her the perfect choice for my final project while also presenting an interesting modeling challenge.
To ensure the model's accuracy and expressiveness, I gathered numerous reference images and model sheets showcasing My Melody from various angles. These references provided essential guidance during the modeling process, helping me accurately replicate her proportions and details.
DIGITALIZATION
After completing my research, I officially began using Blender to create the model of My Melody for my final project. I started by working on the basic shapes to establish My Melody's overall structure. During the modeling process, I continuously adjusted her proportions to ensure harmony between her head and body while carefully sculpting her ears and facial contours.

For my Final Project, I used Blender's 3D modeling techniques to create one of Sanrio's classic characters—My Melody. I chose this character for her warm and adorable appearance, as well as her unique design. At the start of the project, I conducted in-depth research by gathering numerous reference images and design sheets to study My Melody’s overall features, especially her signature hood and rounded facial structure.
During the modeling process, shaping My Melody’s soft facial lines and detailed ears was a time-consuming and meticulous task. I constantly adjusted the model to ensure harmony across all elements. Additionally, to make the model more expressive, I applied appropriate materials and colors to her hood and body textures.
In the rendering phase, I successfully brought My Melody to life by carefully adjusting the lighting and shadows to present her character vividly on screen. This project allowed me to make significant progress in Blender, particularly in organic modeling and material application. It also deepened my appreciation for the creativity and complexity involved in character design.
