FINAl PROJECT - ANIMATIC
INSTRUCTIONS
Final Project Research
For this assignment, we were tasked with creating a 1-minute animatic. The
project began with designing thumbnails and storyboards, which laid the
foundation for the entire animation.
To ensure the quality of the project, I drew inspiration from various
animatics and completed animations I reviewed from Project 1. These
references not only helped me understand the rhythm and style of animation
but also provided practical guidance on how to effectively break down and
present actions.
1. Basic sketches
Figure 1.1
In the draft, I roughly sketched out the key important shots, with each
shot representing a scene according to the development of the story.
I arranged the draft layout according to the sequence of the story.
Following the order of scene appearances, the first scene is set in the
forest, and I will create a close-up drawing for this scene.
In scenes where the two characters are conversing, I will incorporate their
dialogue directly into the scene and use some dialogue shots.

2. Story board
During the production process, I paid particular attention to presenting
the storyline and character actions in a coherent manner so that the
audience could clearly follow the development of the story.
I applied techniques learned from Project 1, such as adjusting panel
timing and setting keyframes, to ensure the smoothness and rhythm of the
animation.

3. Animatic

In the running scenes, I drew several running poses, and in the final
project, I will add the sound effect of running.

In the dialogues between the two main characters and some specific
actions, I also directly drew close-up shots.

During the process of adding sound effects, I focused on enhancing the
realism and immersion of the scenes. To better portray the characters
running through the forest, I included the sound of footsteps, which not
only conveys the dynamic nature of the action but also makes the entire
scene feel more vibrant.
Additionally, I added the sound of rustling leaves, which contributes to
the natural atmosphere of the forest scene. This sound effect not only
complements the visual elements but also helps to create a more immersive
environment, enhancing the overall ambiance for the viewers.

Reflection
This final project has been a valuable learning experience for me. It was my first attempt at creating an animatic, and the entire process was filled with challenges and learning opportunities. Initially, I found it time-consuming to plan and draw numerous panels, especially ensuring clarity in each scene and action portrayal. However, as the project progressed, I gradually mastered techniques in editing and animation using After Effects, which added a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction to the process.
Through this project, I deepened my understanding of the animation production process and learned how to effectively utilize tools and effects to enhance visual storytelling. Overall, although this project demanded a significant amount of time and effort, I am very pleased and proud of the final outcome. Not only did I complete an animatic, but I also gained valuable experience and skills that will benefit my future projects and learning endeavors.
