Week 1

In the first week, we gained an understanding of the module, and Mr. Fauzi provided an explanation of the module's course. During this week, we were required to use the Pinterest software to create a board and place selected motion designs according to our preferences onto the created board. Another task was to find three motion graphic designs on YouTube that we liked, upload them to the document specified by Mr. Fauzi, and explain the reasons for liking each of these three videos.

Week 2

Dynamic graphics utilize animation techniques and typically consist of elements such as text, shapes, images, colors, and animation effects. Designers need to consider the combination, arrangement, and temporal and spatial changes of these elements. Dynamic graphics can range from simple animated logos and icon animations to complex advertising campaigns, film effects, and interactive interface animations. Designers can achieve various creative expressions and visual effects through dynamic graphics, and advancements in technology bring new possibilities to dynamic graphics. The integration of graphic design with dynamic graphics has also become a trend.

In the third week's class, we learned about the basic shapes and styles of graphics, as well as how to use them in future assignments.

The eight key principles for dynamic graphics are unity, balance, movement, rhythm, focus, contrast, pattern, and proportion. Unity ensures harmony and coherence, while balance distributes visual weight evenly. Movement guides the viewer's eye, rhythm creates visual flow, and focus directs attention. Contrast highlights differences, pattern adds structure, and proportion ensures appropriate scale. Together, these principles help create visually appealing and effective graphic designs.

week 4

In this class session, Mr. Fauzi demonstrated the process of creating kinetic typography in After Effects. He provided in-depth explanations on setting keyframes and achieving smooth transitions between them to enhance the visual flow. By adding animation effects, he seamlessly connected each step of the dynamic typography, presenting the best visual experience to viewers.

This session deepened our understanding of the key principles of kinetic typography and how to incorporate dynamic effects. Through his explanations and practical demonstrations, we will become more proficient in this skill.

week 5

In the fifth week's class, we were assigned another new exercise. Compared to the exercises from the first to the second week, this task added an extra level of difficulty. We needed to understand more operation methods.

For this exercise, we will receive new materials, allowing us to explore more new visual aspects in our creations.

week 6

week 7

In the seventh week, we received feedback on all drafts of our Task 2 project. This feedback was invaluable to us, helping us identify areas for improvement and providing guidance to enhance our work. The insights from our mentor enabled us to better understand the project objectives and guided us towards a more professional and refined direction. This feedback has boosted our confidence, reassuring us that we can create a satisfactory final product.

week 8

Independent Learning Week

week 9

During week 9, Mr. Fauzi briefed us on Task 3, an extension of Task 2 which focused on the Channel Bumper project. Before introducing Task 3, he also provided training in animatics. This additional instruction was invaluable as it equipped us with advanced techniques and insights to enhance our animations and elevate the professionalism of our work.

The newly acquired skills were directly applicable to our ongoing projects, enabling us to refine and elevate our channel bumpers effectively.

week 10

week 11

During this week, the mentor provided evaluations and guidance on the progress of each person's Task 3. This step was crucial as it determined how we could refine our subsequent work to ensure our final projects would shine.

week 12- week 14

Consultation week

Exercise 1

week 1

In this exercise, I found three motion graphic designs on YouTube that I liked. In the document specified by the instructor, I explained the reasons for liking each motion graphic design, as well as the unique features of each work and the overall visual impact they delivered. Through appreciation, I drew inspiration from the visual effects to enhance my own creations.

week 2

In the second week's class, with an understanding of dynamic graphics, Mr. Fauzi tasked us with completing a collage exercise according to specific requirements. We were to operate on a canvas sized 1920 x 1080, design three distinct compositions with consistent elements, and choose one of these designs to animate for a duration of 15 seconds.

week 5

This task involves creating a 1080 x 1920 pixel poster suitable for Instagram Stories.

First, download the design elements from the provided link. Then, use the Pen tool in Photoshop to trace and crop the images, and create a composition. Finally, animate this composition into a 5-16 second loop with sound.

Reflection

Through the these exercises, I have gained a certain understanding of animation production and design. Regarding some perspectives and creative aspects of animation, the mentor will guide us further. Compared to the courses of last semester, the knowledge I have acquired this semester has allowed me to conduct more in-depth research into my field. From understanding dynamic graphics to learning how to transition them from static to animated, this has been the reason for my gradual improvement in skills. I still need to continue learning and understanding more methods and techniques for animation production.
