Animated Infographics

INSTRUCTIONS

                                          

For the second assignment, we're required to utilize the assets from Project 1 to create a 60-second motion graphic for Project 2. We'll be completing Project 2's work in After Effects.

First, we need to process the assets created in Project 1 using Adobe Illustrator. Then, we'll import them all into After Effects. I'll choose to animate each step dynamically using a frame-by-frame approach.

Illustration Design

I chose to establish a canvas size of 1280 x 720 pixels to design my artwork.

I exported the assets from Project 1 and prepared them for Project 2. I arranged them in the order of the production process, which is also part of my initial design concept.

After Effects design

I imported the designed elements into After Effects and animated them according to the style flow pre-designed in Adobe Illustrator.

By adjusting the scale, position movement, and opacity with keyframes, the addition and removal of animations flow visually smoother.

I adjusted the scale and opacity for each production step that needed to appear, ensuring they displayed within the designated time frame, with consistent intervals between each element.

Regarding the appearance and disappearance of assets, I designed the opacity values according to their sequence. Even at the same position, the order of appearance for assets varies. When transitioning between assets, I smoothly animate the exit of the preceding asset frame by frame before revealing the next asset using opacity adjustments.

After adjusting the order of appearance for each asset, I connected them to form a complete animation, smoothing out transitions between them. I incorporated background music and sound effects corresponding to the production process at suitable points. This not only enhances the visual experience but also adds an auditory dimension, making the animation more appealing to a wider audience.

Reflection

In the design of Project 2, I delved deeper into After Effects, exploring effects that require scaling, adjusting position, rotation, and opacity. These techniques add more appeal to my animations. Through this project, I've enhanced my technical skills in After Effects. However, I found time constraints limiting my creativity, resulting in reduced display time for each asset. Thus, I don't consider it perfect. Nonetheless, I believe the procedural steps in my work are flawless, facilitating easier understanding of the production process for viewers, which was a key focus of this project.
